Liebster Award Nomination

It’s always an honor to read the comments on my blog posts and discuss stuff that I love with other people who are passionate about it as I am.  Occasionally that leads to blog nominations like this one.  I never really follow up with these nominations because it’s just cool to be recognized by a fellow reader (Thanks Analogueblues!) but this one requires me to get involved by answering questions.  Sounds like fun.

It’s That Time of the Year Again!

It’s that time of the year again for me to take a hiatus from my weekly Bananas and Playlist posts.  How quickly the time flies when you’re busy fangirling!  This Friday will be my last Playlist post for the year and I’ll see everyone on the flip side.

Of course, I will still be posting reviews and expect a mega End of the Year TV Report.  I know I haven’t done a TV report in awhile but this way we can recap the TV year and you can see what’s on my current radar.

Next Week’s Just Bananas About Post…

…will be postponed to the following week.  I’ll be off to the tropics to celebrate my friend’s upcoming nuptials this week so there won’t be a new post next Monday.  I’ll still be posting a new Playlist post this Friday though.  See you when I get back.  Hopefully without an awkwardly weird tan.

Musings of a Chunkeemonkeeato Turns 1

When I started this blog, I wasn’t sure I could keep up with it and now a whole year had passed by.  Yay!  Wow, a year surely flies by fast.

I watch a lot of TV and films and my friends often ask me for my recommendations.  I used to joke at how I probably watched 40 hours a week before the blog but now I think I watch much more than that.  I watch at home, I watch on my way to work and I watch at the gym.  Yeah, you can say I’m pretty obsessed or passionate.  Tomayto, tomahto. If I could watch more TV while I sleep I would.  (In fact, I do leave the TV on while I sleep.  You know, you learn a lot about an actor’s ability to say the lines and sound editing by listening to a show.  It’s like how people used to listen to radio plays on the radio.)

Yelle – Ce Jeu (This Game)

Yelle – Ce Jeu

The blog started out as a way for me to keep track of what I watch and what I liked and disliked about them.  However, I added a lot more features since then so I wanted to take this opportunity to talk about some of features of the blog and what’s in store for the future.  In the last couple of days, I tweaked the layout of the site a wee bit so this will also serve as a tour. Recharging After 1 Year

Okay, so it’s literally been 1 year since Greatest/Best Love started airing.  I may have mentioned, just maybe, how much I loved the drama.

Because of that drama, I got to meet some fantastic fellow K-drama lovers and together, we created the Best Love Dictionary.  If it weren’t for that blog and the urging from the Dokkogirls, I wouldn’t have started this blog so I can’t help having a soft spot for it.  The Best Love Dictionary is a fun place to visit to listen to the OST, to relook at some of the best moments in the drama and answer questions about how the drama affected you.  If you haven’t done so already, I recommend that you check it out.

In honor of that, I created some cocktails to toast the 1 year anniversary. There’s the Dokko-tini and Pororo-Tells-No-Lies and you can find the recipes on the BL Anniversary Page.

Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!

I’ve decided to take a break from my weekly Bananas and Playlist columns until the new year.  Tomorrow will be my last Playlist column for the year.  That way I can come out of my hermit status, catch up with friends and come back refreshed for the new year.  However, I will continue to update the blog with more drama reviews and an end of the year review.

So I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year for you and your loved ones!  Here’s a little holiday cheer, 2NE1-style.

Introducing Banana Ratings

So I’ve been thinking of a rating system as a way to keep track of what I liked, what I didn’t like.  (I’ve gone back and updated my past reviews.)

Calling all “We Got Married” Fans

So after much turmoil, I decided to start a blog.  My first order of business is “We Got Married”.  I found that while there was a wealth of people who recapped k-drama, there wasn’t a really great source for the variety shows.  (more…)

About

What is a Chunkeemonkeeato, you ask?  A sarcastic, foodie monkey that ooh, ooh, oohs whenever she sees something worth getting all fangirly over.
