I loved Geeks’ debut album with their title song “Officially Missing You”. True, the song is a cover of Tamia’s song but the hip-hop duo added their own vibe to the song beyond just changing the lyrics. The song had a stronger backbeat and sounded less sultry than the original.

Since then, I’ve been an ardent listener of their music but it just didn’t strike the same chord as that first album. The songs weren’t bad but they weren’t good either. Truthfully, isn’t that typical of most artists? Maybe that’s why they decided to release another version of their biggest hit, this time featuring Sistar’s Soyu.

It’s been awhile since I featured something American. I have been waiting for the new She & Him album and it’s finally out. Looks like it’s gonna be an adorkable playlist this week.

Opposites attract for this week’s songs. One is a song about falling in love and the other is a breakup song. One features singers who are new to the world of entertainment and the other is veteran.

Cho Yong Pil is one of those artists I never thought I would be featuring here. Why? He’s a singer from my parents’ generation. Does this mean I’m getting older and my taste is starting to resemble my parents’? (*shudder) Or is it considered retro for my age group to appreciate his music like the Beatles? Not that I think of him as a Korean Paul McCartney but I recognize that he’s a talented musician for his staying power to last this long (he debuted in 1972).

I feel like I’ve already said spring is here in one of my recent playlist posts. Yet, I can’t find it. So does that mean that spring hasn’t arrived yet? Starting from last week, I’m finally starting to feel like spring is here at least from the weather perspective in my area. I’m tired of all that warm one day, cold the next BS. I have difficulty figuring out what to wear in the morning and trying to factor in the day’s bipolar weather requires too much brain power. Just saying. Here’s some recent releases that remind me of that loverly springtime.

Omg, it’s about time Zion.T came out with a full-length solo album. I’m so used to him featuring for other artists. He’s really talented and there’s a very playful nature to his voice. The playful nature to his voice makes me think it’s been autotuned at first but it’s not. That’s his voice. Despite that, he does play around with autotune but he layers the autotuned sound with his own voice.

Ra.D really gets rhythm. He should, after all he’s an R&B artist. I know Ra.D mostly from being a featured artist on so many songs. Sooo many. It’s nice to hear his own stuff.

When I see Jung In on We Got Married, she’s a little rough around the edges but endearingly down-to-earth. For me, the jury is still out on real-life couple Jo Jung Chi and Jung In on the program. Sometimes real life doesn’t always work so well on reality television.

I like Huh Gak. He’s one of those artists who has remained consistent since he debuted. However, it usually takes me awhile to take notice whenever he has a new release. It’s not that I don’t like the songs. It’s more like there’s a slow burn. Which makes him perfect for drama OSTs. It doesn’t distract from what’s going on in the drama but by the time the drama plays his song for the 100th time, I can’t get it out of my mind.

That’s how I feel about his first full-length studio album, “Little Giant”, which came out about a month ago. He sings his usual brand of ballads which are good but I also like that we get to see some different styles to this steady seller.
