Just Bananas About: Week of 1/9/16

The boys are back causing mischief and chaos in the West and they’ve got two more members to join in the fun.  New Journey to the West made its debut last week on Navercast with a preview into the new season and more specifically the new members that will be joining them, WINNER’s Song Mino and Super Junior’s Kyuhyun.  Clearly, the two new members worried about joining the show because this type of variety show was new for them.  They might be good at games but they have no idea how to be underhanded and sneaky.

Jive Monkey Playlist: 1/6/17

It seems that I’m still getting back into the swing of things.  I may not have finished my to-do list for 2016 but I working on that.  Despite my problem with procrastination, the members of Infinite Challenge ended 2016 with a bang as they finally revealed the tracks for their hip-hop history challenge titled, “Great Legacy”.

Just Bananas About: Week of 12/12/16

It’s already the end of the year and we’re down to the final Bananas post for this year.  Recently, there have been a lot of changes to the Sunday variety show line-up and one of the newest programs is Secretly, Greatly, which is basically a candid camera program featuring celebrities.  The show is hosted by Yoon Jong Shin, Lee Su Geun, Lee Gook Joo, Kim Hee Chul and John Park.

Just Bananas About: Week of 11/21/16

I was a little worried when I saw the new cast of the Three Meals a Day with Lee Seo Jin.  I guess I was so used to seeing the chemistry between Lee Seo Jin, Ock Taecyeon and Kim Kwang Kyu but I’ve been enjoying watching Eric, Yoon Kyun Sang and the cats, Mong and Kung.

Just Bananas About: Week of 11/7/16

It’s a sad week (or is it?) in Korean variety shows.  Kang Gary shot his final episode of Running Man which aired yesterday.  He was half of our Monday Couple, the Jerry to Haha’s Tom and our favorite squid (oh-jing-uh).  Most importantly, he graced our screens every Sunday evening with sarcastic humor and athleticism.  He will always be considered as part of Running Man’s family but somehow that made him part of our family as well.  We may not see him every week but I’m sure that he’ll grace us with his presence again as a special guest.

Just Bananas About: Week of 10/17/16

There is an interesting new game show that premiered last night called Society Game.  It’s a game that requires you to use your brain, strength and intuition in order to make it through to the end.  There are 22 contestants from all different walks of life, which includes students, athletes, models, doctors, businessmen and etc.  They will live together in a hut for 2 weeks and the member that makes it all the way to the end will win a prize sum of 100 million won (~approx. $100,000).

Just Bananas About: Week of 9/19/16

The Emmy Awards were this weekend.  But more on that later.  It was also Chuseok last week, which is known as Korean Thanksgiving.  And that meant a lot of Chuseok related programming which includes shows that you could watch with your families.  Superman Returns released an X-Files edition which typically includes never-before-seen footage with your favorite kids.

The special episode starts off with holiday greetings from the families.  Some of the kids are clearly too young to understand the tradition of bowing and other kids can’t resist being the mischievous pranksters that they are.  I like how each family brought their own personalities to the mix.
