San E is here, San E.  I was wondering why San E had disappeared from the variety show scene.  I’m delighted to find that he had gone from the small screen in order to produce this album.  He has released the single, “나쁜X (Bad Year),” and I’ll admit that I did listen to it a few times but it didn’t really grab my attention until this week.  The song is clearly a criticism of Park Geun Hye and the people involved in that scandal but the US has its own problems when it comes to politics.  I guess I just didn’t find it cathartic to have someone just point them out all over again.  Sigh.  I’m not featuring “나쁜X (Bad Year)” in today’s post but I recommend looking up the song and the translation of the lyrics because I do love San E’s wit.

There are some weeks when it’s hard to find a newly released song to feature.  Although San E and Chancellor’s “안주거리 (Bar Food)” was released a few weeks ago, it wasn’t something I was eager to feature because while I like the song (a lot), it sounds a lot like San E’s other songs.  However, it’s been a long week and it’s time to embrace the weekend.

Just Bananas About: Week of 9/18/15

Last Saturday night, my sister and I attended the Show Me the Money concert here in NY.  We had been watching the show together.  While we didn’t know what happened on previous seasons, it seemed like this season had a lot of controversies which probably made things more dramatic for television.  Still, the stage is their element and I was truly bummed that I had to miss out on the Epik High concert as I was away that weekend for vacation.  This concert was to makeup for missing out on that Epik High concert and I get to see some of my other favorite artists.

Sometimes you just need a little help from your friends. When you’re a solo voice, sometimes that single voice can’t do the song justice. There are a number of collaboration tracks that I’m grooving to lately and because these artist often frequent as featured artists, I’ve gotten to know their voice and work enough to follow their solo work as well.

Jive Monkey Playlist: 6/2/14

So with all the melodramas, thrillers and generally dark and twisty dramas I’ve been watching lately, I’ve been craving for a light romcom. At first I didn’t know what to make of You’re All Surrounded. I thought the first two episodes were an utter mess. However, I think the drama has come far from the frenetic pacing of those episodes and it’s shaping to be a nice, fun drama. Moreover, I’m pleased to see that Seo Pan Suk (Cha Seung Won) and Uh Soo Sun (Go Ah Ra) have made some connections between Eun Dae Goo (Lee Seung Ki) and his real identity because I’ve seen many dramas drag this out.

Also, it’s no surprise that by the 8th episode we have romance blooming between Soo Sun and Dae Goo which is actually really cute. I like that the title of the OST track is “나왜이래 (What’s Up With Me)” as it accurately describes what’s going on in their heads as they figure out their feelings.
