[Review] Drinking Solo – 혼술남녀


Drinking Solo is a slice-of-life drama that centers around the daily lives of the teachers, students and staff at a Noryangjin learning prep center for students who are taking the civil service exam.  The drama also depicts the romance between Jin Jung Suk (Ha Suk Jin), a Korean history teacher who is an arrogant, star lecturer, while Park Ha Na (Park Ha Sun) is a Korean language teacher, who is sweet but struggles to survive the world of the prep center.

Jive Monkey Playlist: 10/28/16

When I heard that a lot of idols and artists would be making a comeback this Fall, I didn’t expect to be hit with their comebacks all at once.  And so the current playlist that’s been playing on phone has so many tracks that I’m not sure I’ve actually listened to the songs that are on it.  However, I am listening to the tracks from the two artists below on repeat.

Hit the Stage is a new dance competition show on Mnet.  We are about 5 episodes in but people’s interest in the show began even before the first episode had aired.  Though the show does have a competition aspect to it, its format is not like other competition shows where you are eliminated.

Just Bananas About: Week of 8/1/16 – Part 1

What a jam-packed weekend!  It seems like I was constantly on the go, go, go.  There was so much to see and so much to do that after the weekend was over I just had to sleep it all off.  I apologize for the late post but because there was so much going on this weekend and a full two day concert, it took a long time to get the photos sorted and videos uploaded so here is Part 1 of the 2016 KCON LA weekend.

Jive Monkey Playlist: 6/10/16

If you look at the popular K-Pop songs out there, even popular American pop song, they all tend to sound alike.  Sure, it’s easy to criticize those songs as it just feels like artist sometimes regurgitate the same stuff and it becomes a sweeping success.  Songs like that are like comfort food.  The recognizable hook can be that milkshake and burger that’s consoling and invigorating at the same time.  We’re often creatures of habit but other times, maybe we just want a night out on the town to be adventurous and try out the hip new fusion restaurant.  Today, we’re going to do just that by looking at songs that reel you in but have unique beats.
