Just Bananas About: Week of 9/18/15

Last Saturday night, my sister and I attended the Show Me the Money concert here in NY.  We had been watching the show together.  While we didn’t know what happened on previous seasons, it seemed like this season had a lot of controversies which probably made things more dramatic for television.  Still, the stage is their element and I was truly bummed that I had to miss out on the Epik High concert as I was away that weekend for vacation.  This concert was to makeup for missing out on that Epik High concert and I get to see some of my other favorite artists.

Jive Monkey Playlist: 1/25/15

I’m surprised I never realized that CNBlue’s Jung Yong Hwa has really come out with his own solo album apart from a few singles.  The album doesn’t sound too different from the style of CNBlue but I’m not surprised by that as he does write his own music for the band.  Through this album, he gets to collaborate with different artists that makes the album feel separate from the group.

Sometimes you just need a little help from your friends. When you’re a solo voice, sometimes that single voice can’t do the song justice. There are a number of collaboration tracks that I’m grooving to lately and because these artist often frequent as featured artists, I’ve gotten to know their voice and work enough to follow their solo work as well.

Jive Monkey Playlist: 9/16/11

I don’t know a lot about Verbal Jint.  He’s an indie-hip hop artist and I usually heard his tracks in passing, mostly featuring for other artists.  In terms of the hip hop, his sound is very different from Bang Yong Guk and Simon D.  There is a more dancier, groovier feeling to his tunes but it’s not like Mighty Mouth where it’s outright poppy.
