[Review] Haven – Summer 2011

X-FILES LITE

I was initially attracted to Haven because of The X-Files/Stephen King feel to it. It is based off of Stephen King’s “The Colorado Kid”.  FBI agent Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) arrives in a quaint town of Maine called Haven.  She discovers strange, supernatural occurrences going on there called “the troubles”.  Discovering that she has the ability to be immune to the troubles she helps out, eventually quitting the FBI to become a local cop there.  Her partner, Nathan Wuornos (Lucas Bryant), is also troubled in that he cannot feel anything except Audrey’s touch due to her immunity.  They assist troubled folk in Haven while keeping order in the town.

BLASTING SOON OUT OF THE TV-VERSE

Here we are at the penultimate season of this sci-fi series.  The show is about a small town of scientists that the US government has tucked away where they build futuristic inventions for the government’s benefit.  Sheriff Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) is their man to clean up the messes and try to maintain order in the town when the scientists’ projects have gone haywire, which occurs often.

This season is 4.5 as the show decided to split up the seasons over the course of 2 years.  The series wraps up next summer.
