Jive Monkey Playlist: 10/14/16

In the Fall, I noticed that I tend to listen to a lot of ballads and music that generally has a slower tempo.  I swear I’m not depressed or anything but there’s something about the cooler weather or approaching the end of the year that makes you more reflective.  However today, I’m flipping the script as the cooler temps don’t stop me from listening to upbeat music.

I really like Hwang Chi Yeol as I think he’s a great singer that I just happened to discover through his various variety show appearances.  In fact he’s one of the many artists that I want to love and promote.  Perhaps writers and composers aren’t writing music for him that strike a perfect chord that makes it an instant hit.

I think that’s why I was so pleasantly surprised by this track as it’s such a cute song that showcases his personality, not only his singing talent.  I think what I find even more endearing are the cartoon versions of Hwang Chi Yeol, GFriend’s Eun Ha and Geeks’ Lil Boi.

The song depicts that effervescent feeling of falling in love and it has the perfect blend of sweetness and youthful exhuberance.  When it comes to the music video, even though I sometimes get bored of music videos where it’s just the artists singing in the booth, I like that they’ve added cute graphics of the lyrics appearing as messages being sent in a mobile chatroom complete with emoticons.
